...and what is for me a perfect pop song. "King For A Day" from "Oranges And Lemons". It's a beautiful 60s-style neo-pyschedelic gem in both music and lyric (rejection of materialism). Structurally owing much to the great Beatles' songs and their endlessly catchy verses and middle-eights, nonetheless it is completely fresh and captivating from the first arpeggio guitar figures that overlie the chordal rhythm guitar all the way through to the gorgeous fadeout. From the supposedly dead days of the late 1980s, this is a masterpiece.
